Meet the new bestCourse4me bloggers

Tuesday, July 7, 2015 12:00 AM

We have recruited four new bloggers who have just left year 12 and will be writing about their university applications over the coming months. They’ll let us know what they are up to at school and how they are getting on with their course choices, open days, exams, UCAS forms, personal statements and so on. Hopefully you’ll be able to get some insights (and perhaps some comfort) from these peer-group bloggers as they go through the same agonising process as you. In no particular order they are:

Hi, I’m Emily and I enjoy singing, baking and reading and I have a keen interest in travel. I am looking into university courses that have opportunities for research/travel abroad in North America. I volunteer at my local Brownie unit where I am a young leader and have been for the past 4/5 years. I am also currently working towards my Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award at my school, The John Bentley School in Calne.

Hi, I’m Anisa and I am studying at Howell’s Sixth form College, Llandaff. I’m incredibly passionate about politics and global politics, also debating and public speaking. I love English literature, and have a keen interest in the world’s developing economies (the BRICS, South Korea, Singapore etc.). I also run my own personal blog, dedicated to my interests and my personal writing. I’ve always had a keen interest in fashion and beauty, but also love to watch or play a little sport on the side. When it comes to music, I adore all genres and artists, from pianist Yiruma, to K-pops Exo, a little ACDC, to Lana Del Ray. (However, Heavy Metal is something I don’t enjoy).

  • English Literature
  • Religious Studies
  • Business Studies

Target Grades: AAA or AAB

Dream Career: A career that allows me travel and help others. (Lawyer, Business, International Relations)

Hi all I’m a Sixth-former at Belle Vue Girls School in Bradford. I’ll start by telling you my fave colours because that’s the first thing everyone asks so that’d be blue, purple and red. I love drinking hot chocolate and whilst I’m doing my work, I listen to music to give me motivation. I could be seen as shy but once I’m in the mode, I’m unstoppable.

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • English Literature

Target Grades: 3 B’s (as the forecast suggests) but aiming to get higher

Dream Career: Not sure to be honest. (Can’t decide between Medicine/Dentistry & Optometry)

Hi my name is Eleanor and I love all things performing arts. I’m studying at Sir Roger Manwoods School in Sandwich, Kent. Every holiday you’ll find me doing something theatre-related, normally a show. I have weekly singing and dancing lessons and love performing. Another of my passions is sewing. I love making clothes for myself and although it can be a little frustrating at times, the sense of achievement when you put on something you have made is amazing. I also love puzzles and sci-fi as well as gaming. There are very few things I don’t like, but one of them is pink. I hate pink!

  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • physics (dropped at AS)
  • Psychology
  • Art (taking in year 13 instead of physics)

Target Grades: A*AAB

Dream Career: Costume designer or bespoke wedding dress designer

Two student blogs will be posted every month, so keep coming back to see what our Fab Four have been up to. Plus we’ll have occasional guest blogs and a monthly regular blog with advice from the professionals.
